R&D&I

At AITESA, innovation, development and research are part of our DNA.

We tirelessly seek new approaches to our business, improving our ability to execute and understand global challenges. We adapt to the constant evolution of our industry, anticipating tomorrow’s challenges with cutting-edge solutions.

Our drive toward R&D is a statement of our vision for the future, one in which we lead the development of new technologies to create a more sustainable, efficient and safe tomorrow for all.

An example of this is the HySol project, which aims to provide baseload power by harnessing solar energy. It uses a combination of solar power generation during the day, stored energy for nighttime use, and a gas turbine system for additional support.

The innovation lies in the use of the heat contained in the exhaust gases of the gas turbine to heat molten salt, which can be used directly for steam generation or stored for peak load periods.

Innovative project in which end-of-life tires are processed and recycled by means of a pyrolysis reactor.

Our scope for this project was the turnkey supply of a 6MW Thermal Oil Heat Recovery Boiler package with an aerocooler, including piping, pumps, tanks, instrumentation and control system.

The heat from the pyrolysis reactors is used to increase the temperature of the heat carrier fluid, which is then used to generate steam within an ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle). The steam is used to generate electricity through a turbine.

Regarding wastewater revalorization, we have executed a project that proposes an innovative system for sludge management in wastewater treatment plants. It includes a solar dryer and a gasification plant to convert sludge into energy, with the potential to generate 120 MWh per year.

The key objectives are to reduce CO2 emissions through renewable energy and sludge recycling, as well as to reduce the nuisances associated with sludge transport and treatment. The project emphasizes a circular and green economy, with use of ash in construction and agriculture, and promotes a more hygienic and easier-to-handle sludge.

AITESA’s scope focuses on the design and fabrication of the energy recovery system, crucial for the conversion of syngas into electricity.

This system consists of a combustion chamber and aheat exchanger, integrating innovation in waste processing and management to increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Success stories

Integrated solution for solar drying, gasification and energy recovery of sludge

Sludge management represents one of the main operational and economic challenges in wastewater treatment plants and water treatment plants. The costs associated with transport and disposal, odor problems, energy consumption, etc., are all factors that affect sludge management.
