Gas filtration and purification systems

Efficiency, safety and environmental compliance

Proper management of industrial gases is essential to ensure process efficiency, operational safety and compliance with pollutant emission limits.

At AITESA we design and integrate complete solutions for the capture, filtration and treatment of particles, fumes and gaseous pollutants, adapted to the characteristics of each installation and to the current regulations.

Our approach combines dry, wet and mixed technologies, always selecting the most suitable one according to flow rate, gas composition, temperature and nature of the contaminant. The goal: efficient, stable and sustainable operation over time.

How they work

Every system starts from a common principle: capture, separate and purify.

First, gases and particles are captured at the point of emission. Then, mechanical processes (filtration), chemical processes (acid-base reactions) and/or physical processes (adsorption) remove, reduce and mitigate the particulates and toxic components in the gases. Finally, the cleaned gas is released to the atmosphere or recirculated within the process.

The design may include localized extraction systems, piping networks, sequential separation stages and auxiliary equipment such as fans, valves, instrumentation or automatic cleaning systems.

Each installation is individually configured to achieve maximum performance with minimum maintenance.

Main technologies

Cyclones

Cyclones separate solid particles by centrifugal force. The gas enters tangentially, the particles move towards the walls and descend into a collection chamber.

They are robust, low maintenance and very effective with medium to coarse particles. They are often used as a pre-stage to baghouses or scrubbers, reducing the dust load and extending the life of downstream systems.

Bag filters

They are the most efficient option for capturing fine particles, even below 2.5 microns.

They offer emissions well below legal limits, stable performance under variations in flow rate or humidity, and easy maintenance thanks to their modular design with isolatable cells.

They do not require high voltages or complex electrical equipment, and can be easily expanded when the process grows or changes.

The baghouses are automatically cleaned with compressed air in order to keep the pressure drop in the optimal operating range.

Dry sorbent injection (dry sorbent injection) systems

Given the simplicity of design and operation compared to wet systems, as well as the high reduction performance of acid contaminants, dry scrubber systems have gained market share in recent years.

When acid gases (SO2, HCl, HF) are present, a basic reagent is injected into the process which, through a neutralization reaction, chemically reacts with the contaminants, generating solid salts as a product which can then be filtered in a bag filter.

To increase the efficiency of the chemical process, a reactor is usually installed upstream of the baghouse which, on the one hand, increases the turbulence in the injection and, on the other hand, increases the residence time of the reagents in the gases.

Wet scrubber systems (scrubbers)

When gases contain chemical contaminants, sticky particles or high temperatures, scrubbers offer the best solution. They use a liquid medium to capture particles, acid gases or volatile compounds, and are particularly effective against SOx, HCl or HF.

They may incorporate landfills, spraying or liquid recirculation systems, as well as effluent aftertreatment.

Hybrid and complementary systems

AITESA combines these technologies according to the needs of the process. We can integrate multi-stage cyclones, bag filters, dry scrubber systems or scrubbers, together with pressure, temperature and flow instrumentation, automatic purge and discharge, and corrosion resistant materials (stainless steels or special coatings).

How to improve your operation

Our filtration systems ensure environmental compliance with safety margins, reduce solid and gaseous emissions and maintain stable performance even under varying operating conditions.

Their modular design allows them to be integrated into existing installations or to be expanded, while maintaining low operating costs and high availability.

These solutions have application in a wide variety of sectors, from energy and biomass to metallurgy, refining, chemical, food, paper, textile, waste, ceramics or mining, and can be configured as a single or combined stage depending on the nature of the pollutant and the required emission limits.

Together, they offer cleaner processes, longer-lasting equipment and safer, more efficient operation.

The AITESA difference

At AITESA we not only supply equipment: we design complete and coordinated solutions for the collection and purification of industrial gases.

We integrate different technologies in customized systems, adapted to both existing installations and new projects.

Our commitment is clear: to deliver reliable, sustainable results with the seal of an engineering company that understands the process from start to finish.
