We received a request to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels at the ceramics plant in Castellón. The proposal was to use the waste gases for preheating the combustion air of the burners of three atomizers.

These three coils are air-water, and are designed to recover the heat from the hot water in a condensing economizer also designed by Aitesa (Link to this success story), where the waste gases are used. These coils recover a total of 2826 kW from the hot water, transferring it to the air for later introduction into the atomizers.

The real challenge of this project came with the dust content of the gases and the plant. The air introduced to the batteries had such a high dust content that it destabilized the system. The solution: Specially designed drawers, which help to filter the dust content, as well as installing a washing system directly on the main fan of the plant, which thanks to installed instrumentation detects when the system is going to destabilize and is automatically activated by running the bypass system in order to be able to clean the equipment.

This project not only demonstrates Aitesa’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, being the implementation of this equipment an important advance in energy efficiency, it also shows Aitesa’s ability to overcome obstacles, proposing unique and effective solutions to any type of problem.
