AITESA replaces the thermal oil boiler at Covestro Santa Margarida i els Monjos plant (Barcelona).
By AITESA
In AITESA we are proud to share one of our latest projects: the replacement of a thermal oil boiler in the Covestro plant in Santa Margarida i els Monjos (Barcelona). This equipment is a key piece in the thermal energy distribution network of the facility and is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the various production processes.
Scope of the thermal oil boiler replacement project at Covestro
Covestro is a world leader in the chemical industry, recognized for its commitment to sustainable innovation and the development of high-performance materials for sectors as diverse as the automotive, construction and electronics industries. Its commitment to industrial efficiency and sustainability has made it an international benchmark in the sector.
The scope of the project developed by AITESA included the detailed engineering, the manufacturing of the new equipment and the field assembly, with the objective of carrying out an integral replacement in the shortest possible time and with the maximum precision. From the early design stages, we worked to optimize both the reliability of the equipment and the ease of maintenance throughout its useful life.
Thermal oil boiler replacement project upgrades at Covestro
The new design incorporated several improvements aimed at increasing the boiler’s performance and durability, among which the following stand out:
- Increased corrosion resistance, enhancing the safety and operational life of the equipment.
- A new drainage system that facilitates preventive maintenance operations.
- Preservation of the originaldimensions and connections, allowing a perfect integration with the plant’s existing infrastructures.
The installation was carried out during the scheduled plant shutdown, a period that is always critical due to tight deadlines and the need to coordinate multiple simultaneous activities. Thanks to precise planning and an optimized assembly strategy, the boiler was installed in one piece, minimizing on-site interventions, risks of interference and final adjustment times.
The result was a safe and efficient start-up, which allowed the rapid reactivation of production on schedule.
Thanks to Covestro
From AITESA we would like to thank Covestro for the trust placed in our team for the execution of this project and the excellent collaboration maintained during all its phases. This work represents a new step in the relationship between both companies and an example of the value of technical cooperation and shared experience in highly demanding industrial projects.
